Once again fitting two seasons into an episode, Jess and Jenn discuss season 1 of The Flash and season 4 of Arrow. Time travel, secret identities and character relationships all give the twins some feelings that may or may not be shared by the fandom at large. After loving Thomas Hardy’s novel as much as we did, it’s somewhat surprising that we ended up being really happy with Far from the Madding Crowd (2015). There were a few nick-picky things we would have done differently, but the film spurs additional understanding and conversations about the themes and characters that we loved and hated going in.
Full up with hosts and content this week, the Adaptation team takes on the monumental task of covering season 1 of Agent Carter and season 2 of Agents of SHIELD all in one episode. They can’t think of anything to criticize about Carter and think SHIELD has finally hit it’s stride, so they’re all looking forward to the future of both shows.
The gang gets out some pretty intense rants about the storylines in Once Upon a Time season 4 in this episode. They admire the best character arcs, despair over the worst and make predictions about season 5.
Despite the internet uproar, our hosts liked Age of Ultron overall. They wished some things had been set up better, but they discuss the character layers in depth and get excited about the future in this episode.
The hosts could not be happier that Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy made it onto our schedule. They enjoy getting back to their roots with some classic lit, and found FftMC a funny, progressive and thoroughly absorbing read.
Kendyl and Jenn discuss the film Home (2015), what is lost and found in the changes from Adam Rex’s novel and what aliens would really think about the weird stuff humans have invented.

After our episode chalk-full of different versions of Cinderella, the hosts are slightly disappointed that the new live-action Disney version is twist-less. On the other-hand, they can’t deny that is was a gorgeous film, that it answered some questions they’d been asking and that Helena Bonham Carter can do no wrong.

Dorin and Kendyl sit down to talk about Adam Rex’s novel The True Meaning of Smekday. Funny, sweet and surprising, this is another one that we love discussing, especially since we forgot that we didn’t actually live through these events ourselves.
Book readers and non-readers alike were unimpressed by the film Seventh Son, based on Joseph Delaney’s The Last Apprentice series. This one is going down in Adaptation history as one of our least favorite, and a gigantic missed opportunity for what could have been a great movie series.
Our team geared up for the new live-action Cinderella by reading and watching an insanely large amount of versions of the classic tale, from the 7 BC Egyptian Rhodopis to the 2011 A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song. We get into themes of beauty and it’s worth, social status and neglect as well as why there are just SO many birds.

If you couldn’t tell by the length of the episode, Dorin and Kendyl have a lot to say about Kingsman: The Secret Service and the original comics by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. They discuss the improved themes, the interesting characters and, of course, the annoying sexism.

Jess and Kendyl discuss Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, remembering how they felt reading it in younger years and how their opinions have changed.
This week our hosts have read The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch by Joseph Delaney (or The Wardstone Chronicles: The Spook’s Apprentice for the UK, still by Joseph Delaney). They are pretty amused by the main character’s inability to do as he’s told and considerably less amused by the Spook’s generalizations about women. But over all, they are ready to continue on with this series and to see how the filmmakers will interpret it in the upcoming Seventh Son.
As fairytale connoisseurs, the team has been looking forward to the film Into the Woods for a long while. Most are extremely pleased, but someone has some issues with the plot.
After rolling their eyes through the 1982 Annie, the hosts are pleasantly surprised with the 2014 version. The plot changes, the updated music, and better character development led to an incredibly fun film experience.

In discussing the final installment of The Hobbit, the hosts get into a heated debate about where the film starts, but agree on many of the other aspects like the fantastic fight choreography and the over-done love story.
