Shout-outs

On Gone Girl

theperksofbeingminxiu on tumblr: “I went and watched Gone Girl for a second time, and it was just as amazing (pun intended) as the first time. Rosamund Pike truly deserves an Oscar for her performance as Amy Dunne. It was absolutely breathtaking. However I’ve seen some complaints regarding the ending, specifically the part were Nick decides to stay with Amy. I would’ve liked it if they showed us more of how Nick and Amy are perfect for one another, how they complete each other in the most disgusting and disturbing way.”

On The Maze Runner

stilesstilinskihere on tumblr: “The film was amazing, in my opinon. It was very different from the book, but the changes they made, made sense. They are both amazing.”

alwayshaveasmileonmyface on tumblr: “i think they did an amazing job. I’m really protective of the series as it’s my favorite but I loved every second of the film.”

anonymous on tumblr: “I loved the film. I think it did the book justice. Not enough but comparing to other books that were made into films it was very good. Personally, I thought that in the film way too much attention went to Gally when it should’ve went to Minho and Newt. Of course there were a lot of things that annoyed me but all in all I’ve enjoyed the film. I think the casting was great for most (I didn’t like Alby’s). Again, there were a lot of things missing but I loved the film. (Newt was brilliant)”

Main Discussion

The Maze Runner (2014)

-Written by Noah Oppenheim, Grant Pierce Myers and TS Nowlin

-Directed by Wes Ball

-Starring Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Will Poulter, Aml Ameen and Ki Hong Lee

-Based on the novel by James Dashner, covered on episode #97

Notes

-visuals: Glade, Maze, Grievers

-casting: Thomas, Teresa, Alby, Newt, Chuck, Gally, Minho

-plot differences

–what the Gladers already knew (or didn’t know) before Thom

–the changing- Gally’s more of a jerk bc he had less reason to distrust Thom (as a character he’s more afraid/stuck in comfort zone)

–the control the Creators have over Alby/Gally in book (ending, Gally dies assumably?)

–the Maze as a code/section sequencing

–T+T’s telepathy

-do these changes give us concerns for future films?

-themes- did they stay true to them?
–(from book cast: humanity, hope, survival, sacrifice, freedom, memories making you who you are (or not))

Next episode: Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day (book and film)
Previous episode: Gone Girl (film)
