The new Catching Fire trailer teaser came out finally at the MTV Movie awards to a rapt audience all over the world. Catching Fire, the second installment of The Hunger Games Series, will be premiering on November 22, 2013. Check out the trailer below:
This new movie starts off with Katniss and Peeta getting ready to take their victory tour a few months after the end of the games. While on the tour they learn that the districts have begun to rebel against the Capitol and, in order to save her life and the lives of those she loves, Katniss must try to defuse this tension. Failing to do that and in an effort to eradicate the source of the problem, President Snow has decided that the surviving victors of previous Hunger Games are just as dangerous to the Capitol’s peace as the hope that Katniss’s gives to the districts.
***MILD BOOK SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT***
Jennifer Lawrence is back as Katniss Everdeen along with the rest of the former cast as well as many new faces. Among the new faces that I know everyone, including all of us are excited about is Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair. Most people will recognize Claflin as the sexy archer and childhood friend from Snow White and the Huntsman. Finnick is the blonde Adonis who is amazing with a trident and becomes a major part of Katniss and Peeta’s survival in the ring.
One major thing I would like to point out from this trailer is the fact that we don’t actually see anything about their time in the arena so, at this point we can only judge what the first third to half of the movie is going to look like. I know that, when the first movie trailers came out, I had reservations about the changes that they were obviously making. It is definitely hard to portray a book that is, for the majority, inside a person’s head. However, they married scenes from the book with added scenes that made the movie move forward in a very natural and pleasing way. I can only hope that this is the case again.
On another fun note, check out the character portraits that they have come out with for this film below, tell us what you think! We want your comments! How do you like the trailer and what are you hoping to see in this upcoming film?
